Our investment beliefs
Every day we are having conversations with our clients about what they want for their lives and the legacy they would like to leave their children and grandchildren.
Daily we see news about the challenges faced by society and our planet, and we believe it is our responsibility to help you align your money with your values and do what we can to bring about meaningful change.
We have two approaches to make your money matter – Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) screening and Impact investing.
ESG information helps investment managers better understand the risks and opportunities faced by individual companies which may not be readily apparent from their financial results alone.
Environmental criteria consider how a company performs as a steward of nature. Social criteria examine how it manages relationships with employees, suppliers, customers, and the communities where it operates. Governance deals with a company’s leadership, diversity, executive pay, internal controls, and shareholder rights.
Impact investing is not an investment tool as ESG is, but a clearly defined strategy.
The intention is to create a material and measurable positive impact on society by evaluating a company’s purpose as indicated by its core products and services. Managers will be looking for businesses which contribute meaningful solutions to unmet social and environmental needs, and will often use the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a framework to measure success.
We believe every investment has an impact – the only question is whether that is for good or bad.
