I’m thrilled to share that I’ve recently passed my first exam on the road to becoming a paraplanner – R01: Financial Services, Regulation & Ethics. This is the first of three exams I need to complete, and it has given me a strong foundation in how the financial services industry works, the regulations we have to follow, and the ethical responsibilities we have when working with our clients.
The exam covered everything from the role of financial regulators and different types of financial products, as well as client protection and the importance of ethical decision-making. It’s not just about knowing the rules – it’s about understanding why they exist and how they help create a fair and trustworthy financial system. It’s been a great learning experience, and I know this knowledge will continue to be important as I progress in my career.
Next up, I’ll be starting my second module in March, which is R02 Investment Principles & Risk. This module focuses on how investments work, different asset types, and how to manage risk when building financial plans. I’ll be learning more about investment strategies, market influences, and how to tailor recommendations based on a client’s individual goals and risk tolerance.
Passing R01 has been a real confidence boost, and I’m excited to keep building on what I’ve learnt so far.
