As we come to the end of a year that none of us will ever forget, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some of my thoughts with you

Category: Uncategorized

Christmas is a time to celebrate and spend time with family and friends and with the new restrictions, many of us will not be able to that this year. We hope you will find a way to enjoy Christmas in your own way and recharge your batteries for 2021.

First of all, I wanted to thank you for keeping the faith over the last few months. You listened to us and focused on your financial planning and not what the markets were doing. We know it was scary in March when the markets quickly plunged to depths we hadn’t seen for a long time. It would have been easy to let fear take over and switch over into cash believing that this was the safest thing to do. We heard of many other firms whose clients did this and subsequently suffered the detriments of being out of the markets as they rose back up.

We also want to thank you for bearing with us as we moved to working from home and for willingly switching over to having meetings by zoom. We all know that zoom meetings will never be as good as face to face meetings but they were an acceptable substitute which meant that we were able to continue to support and guide you on your financial planning journey to ensure that you stay on track.

For Serenity, 2020 was “business as usual” and we feel very lucky about that. We were able to adapt our business to continue to provide full services to all our clients. We set up each member of our support team to work from home and everyone had plenty to do which meant that no one needed to be furloughed. We were also lucky enough to not have to use any government support and didn’t take out any of the Coronavirus Business Loans which

hopefully means there were a few more pennies in the pot for those that really needed them. All this could not have happened without you, our wonderful client’s who supported us by allowing us to support you. Thank you.

Our thoughts are with those who have struggled this year. So many have had money or health worries and we are acutely aware that this year has not affected everyone in the same way. Whatever is going on in your life, we are here for you. Everyone in Serenity is

available to you and willing to do whatever is needed to make your life easier. Please do call on us, even if it is just for a friendly chat. You can never have too many of those!

With a complete change in our lifestyle, many people have discovered new pastimes and new hobbies. Walking, gardening, baking, parties by zoom, reading and more. It’s also been an opportunity for us all to really appreciate what is really important in life and what isn’t! Family, love, human connection and helping each other are coming out top of the list for so many of us.

I’d like to share this article with you – it talks about what we can learn from this last year. Big Lessons in History – https://www.collaborativefund.com/…/the-big-lessons…/ I hope you enjoy it. I also love this article, Lessons we will learn from this pandemic –https://www.unicef.org/…/lessons-we-will-learn-pandemic as it is was written by Unicef’s young reporters.

But remember, like everything else, this too shall pass. We don’t know when but it will pass.

Stay strong and patient and we will get through this.
