Here we are at the end of another year and what a year 2022 has been.
First of all a massive thank you to you, our clients, for allowing us to take a front seat in your life story. We never take this for granted and appreciate the trust you put in us.
The last year has been memorable to say the least. Many of us we were still trying to recover from the previous two years of pandemic and upheaval and our hopes for 2022 revolved around wishing the world would be a much calmer place.
Instead, some major events have happened that have ensured that 2022 ended up being quite challenging. It will certainly go down in history.
The war in Ukraine has shocked us. The harsh images of the loss of innocent life and the stark realisation of the power of Putin and our reliance on Russian fuel has been unsettling. The world has always seen conflict and there are still wars around the world, but a full-blown war on our doorstep is not something we thought we would see again.
The cost-of-living crisis coupled with rising interest rates has affected most people and has caused us to re-evaluate our spending to ensure we have enough to pay our fuel bills and rising cost of debt. Our thoughts are with those that are struggling and finding it hard to make ends meet.
The events happening in Iran right now are mind blowing. We are witnessing the first female led revolution the world has ever seen. For us here in the UK it is a reminder of the freedoms we enjoy daily that so many others do not. We stand with the women and men of Iran and hope that this revolution is successful and ends soon.
Of course, I must mention the loss of our Queen. Whatever your views on the royal family, no one can deny that she served her country faithfully till the end. She was the epitome of self-sacrifice, duty and a life of service. Most definitely a momentous event of 2022.
And still life goes on. Like it always does.
This time of year is always a time to take stock. We can look back on the difficult times and see what we can learn from them and we can be grateful for the good times and how they saw us through 2022. There is always something to be grateful for. Sometimes we just have to remind ourselves to look at bit harder.
